Q:  What are your hours and how much does it cost to visit the Museum?

A:  Admission to the Museum and all public programs is free.  We are open Tuesday-Friday 9am-4pm, Tuesday evening 5-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 1-4pm

Q:  How do I obtain information about the Museum’s public programs?

A:  Contact the Museum’s front desk at 505 277-4001, click on the Events link on our home page, or pick up the printed Museum Calendar at the entrance to the Museum..

Appraisals
Q: How do I find out what my object is worth?

A: The Museum does not provide financial appraisals of any objects. You have to take it to a licensed appraiser. Please look in the Yellow Pages for Appraisers or Auctioneers or contact one of the following organizations.

Donations
Q: I want to make a donation to the Museum's collections. How do I initiate this?

A: Acquisitions are based on our mission statement and our specific collections focus. Please contact the director, curator, or collections manager for more detailed information.

Photography
Q:  What are the policies on photography of an exhibition?

A:  All photography is by written permission only.  Please contact the curator or collections manager to see if photography of an exhibition is possible.

Conservation
Q: Does the Museum provide information on conservation?

A: The UNM Art Museum does not provide conservation services to the public. Please consult the American Institute of Conservation website for more information: http://aic.stanford.edu/ We do offer workshops in matting, framing and basic preservation techniques. Please check the Events calendar for workshop details and scheduling.

Museum Rental
Q:  Can I rent space in the Museum for private parties or special events?

A:  The Museum is usually only available for events sponsored by the College of Fine Arts or related to our current exhibitions and programs. 

Dark Museum
Q: Why is it so dark in the museum?

A: Currently the best method of limiting damage caused by light exposure to artwork is to control the light intensity and duration of exposure.

Scheduling a Class or Group Visit to the Museum
Q: How do I schedule a free class or group visit to the Museum?

A: The Museum requires groups of larger than 10 visitors to schedule a guided visit with our Education staff. Please contact the Museum’s Education Office (Sara Otto-Diniz) at 277-4010 preferably two weeks in advance of your field trip date. Please click on the Education link on the homepage and review our "Education Brochure" for a detailed list of scheduling information for your particular grade level, class size, and curricular needs.

Print Study Room
Q: Is anyone allowed to use the Print Study Room? How do I make an appointment and what are the hours?

A: The UNM Art Museum Print Study Room is a visual resource available to the University community and the general public. All visits are by appointment only. The Print Study Room may be scheduled for class or individual visits Tuesday through Friday, 9:00-11:30 am and 1:30-4:00 pm. We can accommodate groups of up to 15 students. Contact the Museum's Front Desk at 505.277.4001, click on the Print Study Room link at the top of the page, or e-mail artmuse@unm.edu for more information.

Accessibility
Q: Is the Museum accessible for disabled visitors or children in strollers?

A: Yes. All public areas of the Museum are wheelchair and stroller accessible. We are also happy to hold your stroller at the Front Desk while you visit the museum.

Cell Phones
Q: Can I use my cell phone in the museum.

A: Cell phone use is restricted to the outside lobby in the Center for the Arts.
